CUSTOMER CREDIT TRANSFER · SWIFT CATEGORY 1
SWIFT MT103 is a standardised financial message used for single customer credit transfers — commonly known as international wire transfers. It is transmitted over the SWIFT network between financial institutions and carries the full details of a payment: sender, receiver, amount, currency, value date, and purpose.
In trade finance, MT103 messages are used for settlement payments — when a buyer's bank transmits funds to a seller's bank following documentary compliance, or to distribute commission funds to brokers and mandates at deal close. It is a SWIFT Category 1 message and is subject to FATF travel rule requirements, meaning sender and beneficiary details must be included.
MT103/23 (direct reimbursement) and MT103/202 (cover payment) are the two common variants. The distinction matters for correspondent banking relationships and intermediary bank routing. DEALEXUS handles both variants and ensures that all MT103 messages are generated with the correct fields, formatted to SWIFT standards, and routed through clean correspondent chains.
The standard SWIFT message for cross-border wire transfers. Carries sender BIC, receiver BIC, amount, currency, value date, and payment purpose. Subject to FATF travel rule — full originator and beneficiary data required.
Variant used when the sender's bank has a direct correspondent relationship with the receiver's bank. No intermediary bank required. Faster settlement. Used for confirmed clean payments at deal close.
Used when the payment routes through one or more intermediary (correspondent) banks. The MT202 carries the inter-bank cover alongside the MT103 customer credit. Common for cross-currency or exotic currency routes.
DEALEXUS MT103 messages comply with the FATF Travel Rule — full originator and beneficiary information is transmitted with the payment. OFAC, EU, UN and BSA sanction screening is run before transmission.
NO CREDIT CARD REQUIRED
